Playing Bar Football
Spinning the bars and “hoping” is seen on football tables all over the country when, with a bit more thought about positioning of the players, as well as the timing and accuracy of shots, should give the player, even with moderate ability, much more control and increase their fun and enjoyment of the game.
Watching and copying others has always been one of the most important ways of increasing our skills - whether as an apprentice in industry or playing Bar Football. At tournament events, good players can be seen and there are often “novice” events going on while the Competitive events allow you to see the top players practicing their skills.
A Basic Primer - some hints and tips...
There are three BASIC skills when playing bar football and you will not be surprised to learn that these are - attacking, defending and blocking. Good attacking players (3 and 5 bar) soon learn that they are the first line of defense.

Hints - Some players will be found to be using...
Gloves - Golf gloves are often worn to increase the grip on the handles.
Lube - Silicone based lubricants for bars (those suitable for mountain bikes are ideal )
Bar Towel - sometimes used to keep a players hands and forehead dry.

Beer - The spilling of - especially on the table!
Oil based lubricants (or WD40 style sprays) as these can damage plastic parts
